Sales Training for the Sexy Ones
I’m a sucker for sales motivation. I really am.
I spend time on YouTube every week watching great sales trainers. It works for me.
But, guess what? I am a top sales performer. I’ve lead every sales team I’ve been on except for one where my boss was an alcoholic ass.
Great sales trainers push my buttons and I go out and make 25 calls with the proper posture, mental attitude, goals, etc.
But guess what?
Most sales training is a total waste of time.
Why? Because most sales hires suck.
There. I said it. Most salespeople who are hired should not have been hired.
But, isn’t sales training supposed to fix salespeople who are failing?
Not likely. Or at least not for long.
Don’t believe it?
Try the math.
You, as sales manager spend all day working with a sales rep who isn’t making quota vs. your top performer.. Let’s say you get a 20% improvement.
20% improvement x $8,000 for your rep who is failing = $9,600
20% improvement x $25,000 for your top performer = $30,000
Your top performer takes your invest of time and gives it back to you in increased productivity month after month. Your bottom performer needs you again and again to keep them going.
Your bottom performer needs you to be their Daddy or Mommy. It is a drain on your time and it sucks the life out of you.
It’s not unfair. It’s just the way real life works.
