Hiring the Sales Applicant the Octopus Likes Best
I have been spending a lot of time this summer on the Mediterranean. And on this side of the world everybody is soccer crazy. It is World Cup time. (I realize that for Americans soccer needs to
be explained, but for the rest of the world soccer is the sport.)
Germany got knocked out in the semi-finals the other day, but apparently it was a non-event. Why? Because the Octopus had already predicted Germany was going to lose. I kid you not. http://tinyurl.com/2bdsw6x
Kind of reminds me of the way many sales managers hire salespeople.
Sorting Sales Applicants Based on Resumes is Stupid
They start by getting a bunch of resumes in and actually trying to sort using them. Based on what? Everyone knows resumes are full of bull.
Hello? Resumes as a selection tool?
What are they sorting on, which one has less bull or more bull?
The Need for a Proven Sales Hiring System That Works
What the Sales Management profession needs is a better way to hire salespeople – starting at the beginning (and I don’t mean reading resumes.) How you hire salespeople is a predictor of your sales hiring results. Hire better people, get better sales results. And, please, stop consulting the octopus.
