How Smart Managers Are Growing Their Business -- Even in This Economy!
How Recruiting for Your Sales Jobs Works in 7 Simple Steps

  1. Figure out the budget you want to spend.  To recruit for your sales jobs, you will need to spend money on recruiting, interviewing, and training.  And you definitely don’t want to waste money or time on the wrong applicants.
  2. When recruiting for sales jobs, make sure you are advertising the job and your company in a way that’s enticing.  You will want to be recruiting sales candidates that are money-motivated and great at persuading others to do what it is they want them to do. This means advertising the amount they will or can be earning, plus all the perks of working for you.
  3. The tricky part comes in where to advertise and how to recruit for your sales jobs effectively.  You will need to choose the audience you want to recruit for your sales jobs. If looking for twenty somethings or candidates straight out of college, try advertising on facebook, twitter, and youtube. While careerbuilder and monster are still effective, try posting your advertisements on craigslist. Using social media or craigslist for sales jobs recruiting are more cost-effective
  4. Once you have applicants for your sales jobs filling your pipeline, use an assessment tool for recruiting.  This will eliminate errors in hiring the wrong applicants.
  5. Choose only those who are money or power hungry and good persuaders to interview.  You are recruiting for your sales jobs a team who will enjoy the process of selling AND be motivated by the rewards you will give them—money and/ or advancement in the company.
  6. When interviewing, make sure to ask the right questions and take notes from candidate to candidate.  At this point, you aren’t selling your sales jobs; also don’t be swayed by the candidate selling you! Take good notes and compare when interview is complete.
  7. Recruiting for your sales job is now easy! You have advertised where your audience is, used assessment tools to make sure they fit as a star sales performer, and interviewed for your job position with great notes to make sure they fit with your company’s culture.  Congratulations!

Smart managers are recruiting more salespeople now! Why? Because if business is down by 20%, you need to recruit a sales team that's 20% larger.
